This new mapping software will make your navigation expierence even easier! Many new streets, highways and developments have been added to this latest released map update. The Points of Interest database has been updated as well, so you can instantly route to restaurants, hotels, ATMs, gas stations and much more.
We provide a complete solution for customers that do not own a compatible PC / Mac or do not wish to perform the update on their Magellan RoadMate GPS products themselves.
If you select to have Auto Nav 2000 Plus, Inc perform the software map update for you, you must provide us with your unit serial number located on the back of the Magellan RoadMate unit and the model of your GPS unit so we can provide you with the necessary authorization code for your unit to be updated.Please insert serial number and model information under our comment section while placing your map software update with us.
Auto Nav 2000 Plus, Inc has been authorized by Magellan to perform software map updates for the Magellan RoadMate units.
Note: If you wish to update your Magellan RoadMate you will need the following PC Requirements:
- DVD Drive
- Windows 2000 (Service Pack 4), XP (Service Pack 2), or
- Windows Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, and Ultimate)
In addition, please note the following:
- Version 6 Upgrade is on DVD-ROM only
- DVD compatible with PC only
- For Magellan RoadMate 700 owners only, in order to use the Version 6 upgrade, your Magellan RoadMate 700 must have a firmware version 3.32 or greater. To check your firmware, press the Option Key on your Magellan RoadMate 700, select Configuration, select Diagnostics, select Product Information; confirm firmware version number (for example: SW Version 3.10)

Q: What is the process to have the unit updated with the latest information?
A:Auto Nav 2000 plans to offer the update service and or a DVD (depending on file size) when updates are available from Magellan. You will also need a USB cable and AC power supply to be able to connect the Magellan RoadMate to your PC and power the unit. You may purchase these soon through our online store if you do not already have them.
Q: Why is my unlock code not accepted?
A:Please check that the internal serial number of the unit is the same as the one provided during your purchase of the map update. If there is an error, please contact Magellan.
Q: Can I use other applications on my computer during the map update?
A:It is highly recommend that the map update is performed when you do not need to use your computer for several hours; It is also recommend that all applications be shut down or temporarily disabled before the map update is performed to ensure the integrity of the data transfer.
Q: I am having issues when updating the maps from Window 2000 OS, what do I do?
A: It is recommended that you update your PC to Windows 2000 Service Pack 4. Get Update Now
Q: I am having issues when updating the maps from Window XP OS, what do I do?
A: It is recommended that you update your PC to Windows XP Service Pack 2. Get Update Now
Q: Windows is giving me a driver warning message, what should I do?
A: While the GPS unit is being updated, a driver message may appear. Please ignore the message and continue the installation. This has no adverse impact on the map update process.
Q: Do I need to de-activate power saving options of Windows before performing the map update?
A: While this is not necessary, we highly recommend that the power saving option be temporarily disabled to ensure the integrity of the data transfer
Q: Is it normal that my GPS unit goes through a series of screen changes and restarts during the map update process?
A: Yes, this is the normal behavior during the map update.
Q: Do I need to de-activate power saving options of Windows before performing the map update?

Q: I have an authorized CF card but the PC Application Program says that it isn't authorized. What should I do?
A: Turn off the Magellan RoadMate. Disconnect the USB Cable from the Magellan RoadMate cradle. Make sure that the CF card is still installed and turn the Magellan RoadMate back on. When you are at the Warning/User Select screen, reconnect the USB cable to the Magellan RoadMate. Start the PC Application program and follow the instructions.
Q: How do I install my vent mount for the Magellan RoadMate?

Q: How long should my unit take to find its first position out of the box?
A: If you are stationary and the unit is connected correctly, you should get your first positioning information within about 5 minutes or less. If your vehicle is moving, it will take a longer period of time – possibly as much as 10 minutes or more depending on environmental conditions.

Q: How often will updates be available?
A: Currently we plan to publish new updates for the maps annually. Unit firmware updates will be available whenever changes are identified as necessary for continued proper operation of the unit. Notification of the firmware updates will be posted on our website.

Q: Can the external antenna be placed on the dashboard of the vehicle?
A: We recommend that the external be mounted to the exterior upper surface of the vehicle whenever possible for best reception of the satellite signal. The unit will work in many cases with the antenna on your dash, although with reduced performance.
Q: How many points of interest are available?
A: The Magellan RoadMate currently contains about 2 million Points of Interest available in over 40 different categories.
Q: How many addresses can be entered into the address book?
A: You can enter up to 100 addresses per user (up to 3 users total).
Q: Can the Magellan RoadMate be used as a Handheld GPS?
A: We do not currently offer any accessories that would allow you to do this, however there are other sources for power that may be used to allow you to use this in a handheld mode of operation.
Q: What is the size of the screen display?
A: The display measures 3.8 in/9.65 cm diagonally.
Q: What are the dimensions of the Magellan RoadMate?
A: The Magellan RoadMate measures 3.3 in.(h) x 6.5 in.(w) x 1.5 in(d)/9.15 cm(h) x 16.51 cm(l) x 3.81 cm(p) not including the cradle or mount.
Q: How much does the Magellan RoadMate weigh?
A: Without the cradle and mount the Magellan RoadMate 500 weighs 11 oz./284 g and the 700 weighs 13 oz./368.5 g.
Q: What are the power requirements for the Magellan RoadMate?
A: The unit requires 9vdc to 16vdc at 1Amp to properly turn on and operate.
Q: Does the Magellan RoadMate support the off-road Navigation feature?
A: The Magellan RoadMate can be used to provide off-road positioning information. You would simply press the "LOCATE" button on the front of your unit.
Q: My unit will not run on external power, what do I do?
A: here are a few tests you can do. First, is the little LED light lit when the cable is plugged in to the cigarette lighter socket and your vehicle is operating? If not, the fuse in the cigarette lighter adapter may be faulty - change the fuse. If the first answer is yes, then is power available at the end of the cable that connects to your unit? Note, you will need a DC voltmeter to check this and the voltage will vary depending on the model of your unit. If no power is available here, then your cable is faulty - obtain a new one. If the answer to the second step is yes, then the unit may be faulty. Please contact our technical support group for repair options.
